Erik Buzzard, a partner in the firm’s Orange County and Las Vegas offices, has 22 years of experience handling complex civil litigation and business transactions. Mr. Buzzard has represented clients of all sizes, government and financial institutions, insurance companies, property owners, developers and builders, non-profit organizations, as well as small and startup enterprises. Mr. Buzzard has significant litigation, arbitration, and trial experience, particularly in the defense of developers and builders in construction defect claims for property and bodily injury damages involving toxic mold in high rise and single family residential projects; related insurance coverage and subrogation claims; and in real estate non-disclosure of water intrusion and mold infestation claims for buyers, sellers and brokers of residential properties.

Mr. Buzzard focuses his practice on business litigation, real estate and title disputes, fire causation and progression claims, insurance coverage, and bankruptcy creditor claims. He has significant experience in handling real estate acquisition and lease transactions, and facility/development construction agreements, public construction permitting and plan approval, and all aspects of development and construction. Mr. Buzzard regularly advises clients regarding formation of business entities; private debt and equity financing; shareholder and buy-sell agreements; employment claims; severance and consulting agreements; employee compensation matters; business licensure; risk transfer; claims avoidance; environmental hazards; and litigation guidance. Mr. Buzzard also handles privacy rights defense and other governmental contract issues and has also represented leading Internet service providers and news aggregators in response to cybersquatting, cyberbullying, and communication decency act issues and in crafting of terms of service provisions, and social media policies.

Mr. Buzzard received his Juris Doctorate from UCLA School of Law in 1992, and his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Finance from the Haas School of Business at University of California, Berkeley. He is licensed to practice in California (1992), Nevada (1999), and Texas (2009).
