Mary Ritchie, an attorney in the firm’s Denver office, is a seasoned civil litigator with over 20 years of expertise defending a wide variety of corporate defendants in general liability, construction liability, construction defect, and products liability lawsuits involving moderate to severe personal injuries and property damage. Her clients have included nationwide retailers, hotel chains, warehouse stores, fast food chains, commercial and residential landlords (malls, office buildings and apartment complexes), real estate developers, commercial construction contractors, design professionals, trucking companies, product manufacturers, and public entities.
Ms. Ritchie has served as staff counsel for national insurers where she developed a strong acumen for assessing the risk/benefit analysis of trial versus settlement. She handles all aspects of her cases from start to finish, with a focus on cost effective case management, including opportunities for early resolution, indemnity and risk transfer, and dispositive motions. She has tried a variety of general liability cases including fire claims, water damage claims and auto claims. Notable results include numerous no-pay dismissals, accepted tenders of defense/indemnity, successful motions for summary judgment, the tangible recovery of funds to reimburse clients for costs and attorney fees, and a high success rate at trial and arbitration.
Ms. Ritchie is a graduate of Pepperdine University School of Law in 1990 and was awarded her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University. She is licensed to practice in Colorado (2013), California (1990) and Oregon (2003).
